Post-Shoot Thoughts and Ideas

I found that the quality of the footage from our reshoot far exceeded the quality of our original footage. I have been inspired. FILM NAME: Metanoia Documenting the three stages of friendship: formation, maintenance, and dissolution (source: Lauren Berger, Brittanica) May still use footage from the original shots for the fight scene in the 'dissolution' stage - 'but it doesn't stop them from trying,' following 'but all good things come to an end.' We shot all of the scenes for the 'maintenance' stage today, the honeymoon phase. Dissolution might begin on social media, with Clara posting an 'expose thread' on Lydia, and Lydia falling into depression and pushing everyone away. We will shoot the 'formation' stage at school on Tuesday, where Lydia and Sierra first meet.  Each stage is separated by a black screen titling the stage of friendship, and maybe a narrative voiceover of someone explaining it. FORMATION - School, Lydia and Sierra ...

Rough Draft Peer Review

Image
Feedback from classmates: - The fight scene was confusing; they understood that they had tension but not necessarily about what the fight was over. - The lighting was very red - The scene with Iris opening the door on the two arguing is confusing; inconsistent. The concept of them being locked in wasn't liked either as it was confusing. - They really liked the screen captures of the new footage.  My review I didn't really like how the rough edit turned out. The colours turned up different on the TV that we presented them on than they did when I was editing it on my PC. I had no SFX or music, so there were a lot of gaps in consistency. I also didn't like how the lighting turned out on the footage. I didn't enjoy the conversation in the middle as it felt a bit awkward and forced, and some of the lines turned out to be comedic instead of serious.  I think I will remake another rough edit when I get all of the new footage, as I think the storyline itself needs major work a...

Reshoot Planning (April 23rd)

Image
Planning for new footage. I have decided that I want to keep the fight footage as a part of the final edit, but I also need to find a way to work around it before I shoot the new footage. What we have right now, of Lydia and Sierra meeting ten years later, provides a foundation. We also had a few shots of Lydia and Sierra looking at each other and recognizing each other after all this time, which was going to be the starting point for the film, but I don't like the quality of the footage for those shots, as they were rushed due to time constraints on set and many of the extras had already left.  NEW PLAN FOR THE RECOGNITION SHOTS Option 1: Sierra walks into a house party, there are cinematic lights. She sees Lydia, bathed in red lighting (danger). Alarm sounds ring - non diegetic sound, and then it flashes back to their younger selves. I don't know how much I like the idea. For the inspiration though, I like these collection of shots for Lydia. Below are the shot inspiration ...

Progress Report: 21st April 2026

After experimenting with the footage we have, all of our group members found that the shots we had were not sufficient enough to create the emotional tone we wanted. The scene were Sierra and Lydia played a game of two truths and a lie to catalyze the plot turned out a lot less impactful. The dialogue seemed unnaturalistic, as well as the fact that we only decided to add two actors in at the last minute, and pulled from the extras. The lack of costuming and preparation led to one of our actors, Bravo for the part of Marcus, wearing a very thinly striped shirt. The stripes produced a  moirĂ©  pattern that was very distracting from the dialogue in the scene. This was discovered post-production. I researched the effect online to find the root cause, and found this definition for why it happened. ' When the web cam takes a picture of a striped shirt, the shirt is digitized into an array of pixels. The array is a sample of the image in front of the camera. Some pixels are perfectly ...

ccr rough edit

  1. How do your products represent social groups or issues ? My product represents teenage/young adult friendships and the impact of miscommunication and social isolation. Through Sierra and Lydia, the film explores the complexity of past friendships and the breakdown of communication not because of one major event, but due to assumptions, fear and lack of communication. 2. How do the elements of your production work together to create a sense of branding ? My product uses a consistent set of visual and narrative elements to create a clear emotional ‘brand’ centered around nostalgia, tension, and unresolved conflict. Lighting: The blue-toned lighting in the driveway contrasts with the cold distant atmosphere, symbolising emotional separation. Inside, warmer lighting contrasts with this. Sound: The use of the alarm sound transitioning between scenes creates unease and acts as a symbolic disruption, mirroring the disruption in their friendship. Narrative structure: The story focuses...
