Post-Shoot Thoughts and Ideas

I found that the quality of the footage from our reshoot far exceeded the quality of our original footage. I have been inspired.

FILM NAME: Metanoia

Documenting the three stages of friendship: formation, maintenance, and dissolution (source: Lauren Berger, Brittanica)

May still use footage from the original shots for the fight scene in the 'dissolution' stage - 'but it doesn't stop them from trying,' following 'but all good things come to an end.'

We shot all of the scenes for the 'maintenance' stage today, the honeymoon phase. Dissolution might begin on social media, with Clara posting an 'expose thread' on Lydia, and Lydia falling into depression and pushing everyone away.

We will shoot the 'formation' stage at school on Tuesday, where Lydia and Sierra first meet. 

Each stage is separated by a black screen titling the stage of friendship, and maybe a narrative voiceover of someone explaining it.

FORMATION
- School, Lydia and Sierra meet.

MAINTENANCE
- Sequence of the honeymoon period of their friendship, which we filmed today.

DISSOLUTION
- Begins with a social media campaign against Lydia, who spirals into depression and shuts everyone out. Sierra later finds out Lydia moved away.

BONUS - if there is time left to fit this into the edit
- The fight scene ten years later. 

Additionally, shots of them at the lunch table. The first time they meet, the maintenance phase where they're best friends, and dissolution where Lydia isn't talking much or just isn't there, and Sierra is sitting by herself.

I chose this route as when I tried to edit the new footage into the old footage as a 'flashback scene', I didn't like how it turned out, and decided instead to expand on the footage we just shot today.

SCENE 1:
Older Lydia and Sierra accidentally bump into each other. They look at each other and recognition flashes on their faces. Flashback to when they first met.

SCENE 2
Flashbacks, Lydia meeting Sierra, their moments of friendship, interjected maybe by their fight scene. Then there is a fight scene where Lydia and Sierra fight. Then flashes back to present, where their older selves just say sorry and walk away, but both have been changed by the friendship and are reminded of it.

How it ended:

Clara started spreading rumours about Lydia, who stopped coming to school. Sierra sees Lydia's Instragram posts, and she seems to be doing fine. Shot of Sierra messaging Lydia, but Lydia ignoring her messages. Then confrontation when they bump into each other again and Sierra confronts Lydia. Lydia says that she's changed and that they weren't ever really that close anyways.
